Planning a festive day out in Knightsbridge this Christmas? At the Levin Hotel we have some suggestions…
If you are visiting Knightsbridge this Christmas you will be spoilt for choice of festive treats and experiences. With everything from the best Christmas shopping to sparkling ice rinks to traditional markets on our doorstep. Our guests are always looking for recommendations from our team so here is how we would spend a perfect Christmas day out in the neighbourhood.
Begin with a visit to Harrods, arriving early to beat the crowds – luckily The Levin Hotel is only 67 steps door to door! Discover the perfect gift to delight a loved one or browse the mouth-watering food halls – the mince pies are not to be missed. If all that shopping has tired you out head to the fifth floor and London’s ultimate hair and beauty destination, Urban Retreat. Offering everything from bouncy blow dries to soothing facials and expert make-up tutorials this is truly a one-stop-shop for all your beauty needs. On your way out swing by the Christmas department and pick up one of their whimsical tree decorations, the perfect souvenir. And don’t panic, if you get a little carried away our concierge team will collect your bags and deliver them to your room.
Feeling suitably relaxed head for The Levin’s sister hotel and neighbour, The Capital, and their limited edition Christmas Afternoon Tea. This year The Capital’s festive tea sweet offering has been created exclusively by critically-acclaimed Pastry Chef Claire Clark and is served alongside a range of savoury treats from the Michelin-starred Outlaw’s at The Capital team. Relax in the cosy sitting room, a true escape from the hustle and bustle of Knightsbridge outside, and choose from the extensive tea menu available. Why not start with a glass of Champagne? It is Christmas after all!
Then tuck into the delicious selection of treats on offer – all accompanied by warm homemade scones served with fresh clotted cream and homemade jam.
It’s now time to set off for the most Christmassy of evenings with a night of Carols at The Royal Albert Hall. It’s a short taxi ride away but we recommend walking via The Natural History Museum to take in the lights surrounding one of London’s most picturesque ice rinks. The Royal Albert Hall is home to the best festive entertainment in town with Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival, choose from a traditional gala of seasonal classics and carols performed by the celebrated Royal Choral Society, a fun-filled Christmas Carol sing-a-long or the elegant and evocative Carols by Candlelight. There truly is something to suit all and The Royal Albert Hall is the perfect setting to hear wonderful artists and music at this special time of year.
